Drama 20 storeys up in the air!

Image
I was walking past this beautiful building constructed in unmistakable art deco style popular in the 1920s, and admiring the sculptures and decorative motifs when I saw these four larger-than-life men up in the air, each holding a globe. I imagined how striking they’ll look at night, floodlit from below and the globes glowing in their hands. While savouring the imagined scene in my mind I couldn’t also help thinking of the lighter side of the situation and created this cartoon to share. Hope it’ll light up your life for a moment at least.

Once a trading centre of some renown and known as Singapura the Lion City, it had declined into a fishing village by the time Raffles landed on her shores.  However, Raffles, a product of the Enlightenment, had a vision beyond establishing a new duty-free port. He wanted it to be a beacon of hope, freedom and justice, thus setting in motion events that catapulted Singapore into the stunning metropolis it is today.
